Planning engagement session outfits for fall and not sure where to start with picking what to wear? You’re in the right spot! Here are my top tips when it comes to selecting outfits for fall that will photograph well and be cozy.
Tip #1:
wear something that you love and feel comfortable in! When you feel confident and comfortable that translates in a huge way into how your photos turn out.
Tip #2:
Generally, I advise couples to stick to muted colors & neutrals since they photograph best, but especially in the fall! With all the rich tones of the foliage in the fall, you don’t want the colors of your fall engagement session outfits to be competing with your surroundings. Beiges, whites, browns, blacks, as well as, warm earth tones are my favorites for the fall.
Tip #3:
Try to stay away from small patterns, anything that feels “busy” or that might take away from the focal point of your images (which is you!). Instead, opt for incorporating a piece of clothing with rich, cozy textures like a wool, suede, leather, and denim which photograph beautifully.
Tip #4:
Pick outfits and shoes that are seasonally appropriate. If you wear a spaghetti strap dress or pair of summery heels on a crisp fall day in November, it will look out of place!
Tip #5:
All of my engagement sessions include 2 “looks”, so I recommend bringing both a more casual look and a more formal, romantic look to give you variety in your photos! But remember in the end, it’s 100% up to you and what you want to be photographed in and what feels “you”. There are no hard set rules.
